Incontinence linked to pelvic floor disorder common: study

Nearly one-fourth of women in the United States are affected by a pelvic floor disorder such as urinary or fecal incontinence, or pelvic organ prolapse, a survey has found. The results of the 2005-2006 National Health and Nutrition Examination found that 23.7 percent of women reported symptoms of at least one type of pelvic floor disorder. The most common was urinary incontinence, at 15.7 percent of women. The risk of suffering from one of the symptoms increased with age, parity, and body weight, researchers found.  Read full story >
