Study links acid to overactive bladder

Australian scientists say they've found a link between high acid content in urine and overactive bladder (OAB). The study, published in the British Journal of Pharmacology, found that acid stimulates nerve cells in the lining of the bladder that make people feel like they need to urinate. Experts say this is the first study to link acid to OAB to urine acid, and they hope it will pave the way for new--and potentially less expensive--treatments than those currently used for OAB.
