Pelvic Floor Inserts May Have Long-Term Complications

Vaginal inserts known as pessaries have been used since the 15th century B.C.E. to treat pelvic organ prolapse, a disorder in which weakened pelvic muscles cause the uterus, bladder, or rectum to protrude into the vagina. But according to a new study, these vaginal inserts may have high rates of complications with long-term use, including constipation, vaginal bleeding, severe discharge, and pain.  Read full story >
