Q: I SKIPPED A MONTH OF MY MENSRUAL CYCLE I HAVE NOW BEEN BLEEDING FOR 8 DAYS NO SIGN OF SLOWING DOWN

I AM 47 YRS.OLD MY GYNOCOLOGISTS PUT ME ON 20 MG.FLUOXETINE A DAY,THAT HAS STOPPED MY HOT FLASHES,BUT MY PERIODS ARE IRREGULAR I SKIPPED LAST MONTH NOW I HAVE BEEN BLEEDING FOR 8 DAYS PRETTY HEAVY.IS THIS NORMAL,IT'S THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS.

Debbie, It is very normal to skip periods and have irregular periods when you are entering menopause. This sometimes happens for months and months. In fact, you are not really in true menopause until you have stopped having periods for 12 months. If you are concerned about the length or severity of bleeding, just call your doctor's office and see what he or she has to say. Glad the hot flashes are better!
