Sunday, January 15, 2012 julie ann asks

Q: ow long can I stay on this medication and if I stop this medication can I just stop it or do I have to taper this drug.

I had a TVH 2 years ago. I have been on Mimvey (estrogen/progesterone) for 1 1/2 years. I feel great and like my choice of therapy. I chose the the combo because I felt I needed some progesterone for my mind. But I am concerned about how long I can stay on this med. My doctor says you have no uterus, you do not need progesterone.

Thank You, Julie Ann

Hi, Julie Ann,

I'm not a medical doctor so I'd recommend that you talk to your own doctor or a pharmacist about how to stop the medication. Having watched people who are on medications have adverse effects when they stop "cold turkey," I'd rather steer you in this direction.

Take care!
