Q: Enlarged uterus - lack of menstruation

I am 42 years old and have always experience regular periods, I can tell you exactly what day and time I will start and stop. However, I haven't had any bleeding at all for about 2 1/2 months. I have several signs of pregnancy, naseau, lightheadedness, sensitive breasts, however I have taken several pregnacy tests that have come up negative. I am on birth control pills, and the only partner I have had uses condoms, and we have not had intercourse in at least two months.

I went to my gyn today and she told me that I have an enlarged uterus, and gave me an appointment for an ultrasound. However, again, the urine pregnancy test was negative. She also took blood to test my hormone levels, and to do a blood pregnancy test, but I won't have the results back for four days because of the holiday weekend.

Most of the information I have read about fibroid tumors, etc, indicate that there is excessive bleeding. Is it possible to have a fibroid and a complete lack of bleeding? Other than pregnancy, what else could it possibly be?

Hey ladies.   am 43 for the past year i was suffering from EXTREME fatigue..had occasional sensitive breasts and suddenly a gushing period with clots.
After a vaginal ultrasound, MRI, and biopsy I was diagnosed with hyperplasia.  my uterus was about double normal size.  I had a hysterectomy and feel like a new woan.  Hpe that helps...get it checked out.

I am having some of the same symptoms as KimberlyC and would love to know her outcome or hear from others with similar experiences.  I am 49 and according to my most recent blood work am not menopausal.  I have a fairly large fibroid on my uterus which, I understand, is the cause of my heavy periods and frequent spotting.  My periods have also been irregular, some times as little as 21 days apart.  This last month my cycle was 30 days, and I began having symptoms like Kimberly's - nausea, enlarged and sensitive breasts, and fatigue - which felt very much like the early stages of my pregnancies.  I was worried enough that on the 29th day I took a home pregnancy test, which came up negative.  I was relieved when my period started, but I have continued to have the pregnancy-like symptoms.  I took another HPT on day 20 of my cycle, and it was also negative.  I have checked out numerous web sites and this is just about the only place where this issue is discussed.
