Q: Everything removed except cervix 11 years ago- is the occasional bleeding normal -

I had a TAH 11 years ago but just recently started bleeding. Will last a couple of days then stop, then come back and so on. Been going on for a few months now.

I am on Estrace 2 mg.

Does the Estrace feed the cervix and therefore this happens? Why would it happen after such a long time of not seeing a period?

Thank you for the input.

I can see why this would be confusing.  You should not be bleeding unless there is some uterine tissue that was not removed.  The Estrace would definitely cause growth of tissue there that would then be shed as the bleeding you're seeing.  I have a patient who is having this same issue.  I would encourage you to see a GYN for an evaluation to be sure this is the case.  You might find that if the provider would put you on progesterone (Prometrium), it could counter the estrogen effect and diminish or eliminate the bleeding.  Be sure it's the bioidentical progesterone, not medroxyprogesterone (Provera) which tends to have lots of negative side effects.

Good luck to you,

Sandy
