Q: Post-Menopause Bloating and Water Retention

I am post-menopause.  No period for two years.  I still have bouts of bloating and water retention.  It makes me feel fat.  I want some relief. I thought after menopause I would not bloat or retain water any more.  Will this eventually get better?

Hi Mickey,

Your hormones will continue to fluctuate for a few years after your last period.  That is what your bloating and fluid and retention are probably related to.  And, yes, it will eventually get better.  Be sure you're drinking plenty of water (8 glasses/day).  If you're not getting enough, your body will hang onto fluid even more.

Good luck,

Sandy
