Hi Linda,

YOu can feel reassured that the Estring is a very safe and effective device for vaginal dryness.  Unless your vaginal walls have very lax tone, they will hold the ring in place.  It naturally migrates to the back of your vagina.  You may feel it move forward if you bear down to have a bowel movement, but it is easily pushed back farther in the vagina.  The ring is considered a local treatment and little if any estrogen goes into the general circulation.  My patients tend to like them quite a bit especially for convenience and lack of the messiness that often accompanies creams or tabs.

Most women (or their partners) do not feel it during intercourse, but--if you do--just remove it beforehand, rinse it and replace it afterwards.
