Q: I'm in peri-menopause and i'm wondering how long it will be before I go in to menopause?

How long before I go into Menopause? I'm 45yrs old and in the peri-menopause state

Hi Angelgirl,

I wish I had an answer for you, but it's totally unpredictable.  The average age of the last period is 51-52 years of age.  If you are down to few periods or very scanty bleeds, you might end before then.  If your periods are still relatively regular with normal flow, it could go on for quite awhile still.  One indicator might be if you know your mother's and/or sister's histories.  If your periods and your pregnancies were very similar to theirs, your menopause may be much like theirs as well.
