i keep having hot flushes didnt have a proper period last month
I am 41 this year and since giving birth to my two daughters I have always had extremely heavy periods but last month I hardly saw anything, and I am due to have my period and I keep having hot flushes, dizzy, headaches and short of breath
Welcome to this wonderful new club!
I'm no medical expert, but from one woman to another, my guess is that you have officially arrived in peri-menopause. I'm 44 and have experienced every single symptom you just described. I for one welcome this time with open arms! (well, almost). It's a wonderful new phase in life - and once we're on the other side of it - no more birth control worries! The different symptoms can be worrisome as you wonder if "it's normal". I've been looking at different menopause websites and checked out library books on the subject. If you have real serious worries, always see a doc of course! But sounds like the typical peri-menopause stuff to me. I say congratulations and try to go with the flow as best you can! (Or no flow - no pun intended

"Tropical Episodes"! - I like that and I'll use that if you don't mind! I don't suffer from hot flashes that often, but have plenty of other things going on. One evening I was sitting with my 11 yr. old dtr. just watching t.v. and got so dizzy! I thought, "What the heck?!" There was no reason for it. I've also had a weird buzzing in my head which was disturbing, until I ran across "35 Symptoms of Menopause" on a website and found out it was a symptom - whew! Shall I go on? My period just recently went out of whack - first a round of a period every two weeks, then nothing! My sister, who is older, said she had the same thing. It seems like anything goes when it comes to this peri-menopause. I feel like it's a cool, crazy secret club - and can use it as an excuse when I don't feel up to doing something! (I've also had episodes of nervousness and anxiety!)
I'm glad to talk with you about it at any time!

I agree, Jules. It sounds very typical for perimenopause. A really good book to fill you in on what to expect, what you can do, what's normal, etc. is The Hormone Survival Guide for Perimenopause by Nisha Jackson. Educating yourself is the first step toward feeling better.
Good luck on the journey,
Sandy

I thought i was cracking up or something, thanks for that (I think) am I ready for this I wonder, on one hand yes and on the other no with the sweating etc, can become extremely uncomfortable and embarrassing. My sister has a good name for this, she says we are not having hot flushes, but Tropical Episodes. I like that one it makes you feel better. Thanks for you advise and now ill just try and get on with it.
