Hi Soffy,

Your daughter is fortunate to have an observant and concerned mom!  It would be unusual for her to be having symptoms of perimenopause at this early age.  It does happen, but the chances are low that it's early menopause.  What you have described makes me think more of symptoms of depression.  I would suggest you to encourage her to talk to a therapist who can help her figure out what is causing her to be changing.  If she is uncomfortable about a therapist, maybe she would be more willing to talk to her pastor since you mention she is involved at church.

Your daughter's symptoms are not uncommon and it is important to get help because they won't usually go away on their own and can get worse if she ignores them.

Thanks for writing.  Good luck to you and to her,

Sandy
