Hi, Liz,

I'm not a medical doctor. I did a search to see if I could find any reliable websites that I could direct you to, but I didn't find any. Therefore, I'd suggest that you talk to your ob/gyn.

Take care and keep us posted!

Hi Liz,

I reviewed some of the literature and research on Amberen and would be leery of taking it in combination with OCPs.  I found nothing that addressed this directly.

However, even though the 2 meds work differently in the body, they both have their effects through the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis.  It is not possible to predict how one would effect the other and what the results of both at one time would be.  I would suggest that you would be better of using another form of birth control and using bioidentical estradiol and progesterone to manage your perimenopausal symptoms.

Good luck to you,
