Hi Kat,  Starting to skip periods and being in your forties are 2 good indicators that you are in perimenopause...the stage before menopause.  You may be experiencing other symptoms that point to hormone change as well:  poor sleep, mood changes, lower sex drive, dry vagina, hot flashes... If you haven't read my posting on Perimenopause, you might want to do that for a basic introduction to what to expect as you move closer to your last period.  Also, the posting on Bioidentical Hormones will tell you what you need to know if you decide on, or your provider offers, hormone therapy.  Best of luck!

I hope it's smooth sailing, Sandy
