Q: disabling hot flashes and sweating

i've been menopausal for, well my periods stopped 8 years ago, what seems like too many years. these are the symptoms i am suffering and i hope to hear someone had and cured the same. the thing that, if i was the type, makes me want to be dead, is my body temperature. i dont go 30 minutes without one of these attacks. first i feel the heat in my face and my skin begins to sting and sweat, dripping, unreal, in my eyes, soaking my hair and clothing,my forearms glimmer with sweat even, its running down my back and my chest, the back of my knees, i mean sweat!!!! as this is happening my heart begins to pound and i start breathin short and fast and shallow and i feel like im going to panic because I HATE THIS AND WOULD RATHER DIE THAN FEEL THIS AGAIN!!!!! sometimes i cant see or what i do see is red and greenish, that happens during 30% of the attacks. this is no exageration!!! the other problem is the vaginal spotting. its enough to where i have to wear a sanitary napkin everyday with a tampon. alot of nights i spill over. it is very very watery and has a yellow or green color, and a horrific odor.  is this what every 55 year old woman goes through??? talk to me please!!!! ive never done this kind of communication before so im hoping this is right and it reaches some females with answers and some doctors that will tell me how to handle this or if he or she thinks this is normal menopausal symptoms or what could be wwrong. but please dont just say go tyo the doc. im poor, ive been there and she says hormone suppliments are bad and she said come back if it continues, but that she will probably say the same thing.PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I CAN DO!!!! thank you, judy

Hi, Judy,

I'm so sorry that you're having to go through this. I have not heard of issues quite as severe as you are describing, especially since you haven't had a period in eight years. I'm not a medical doctor, but it does sound like your body is having other issues. As far as the hot flashes, you may want to try black cohosh (which a friend of mine swears by). But your vision issues and the spotting are reasons to go see a doctor (which I know you don't want to hear). You might email Dr. Tara Allmen's website to see if those folks have any suggestions. That website is: http://www.menopauseinanhour.com/ There is a link at the bottom that says "Tell Your Story."

Take care and keep us posted!
