I had pretty regular periods until about 10 or 11 months ago,I never really suffered hot flashes or other symptoms women complain about going through menopause.I thought I had I made it through the change fairly easily.then wham.I get my period with all the normal cramping,etc.....,do you think its just gonna be a one and done or are my periods gonna return again for awhile?? I hope not!!

Hi, ReginaM,
You're not technically into menopause until you've gone through a full year without a period. What you're experiencing - erratic periods - is normal. I think you're still in perimenopause, but since I'm not a medical doctor, you may want to check with your own doctor just to be sure.

What you describe is fairly common, Regina, and it's not possible to predict what's next. At age 54 and having skipped 10 months, I would think that you are likely close to stopping altogether.
