treatment for incontinence
occasional seepage or, after sitting for a while, discovering I've "leaked" is really beginning to bother me. this has been an insidious development and I'm wondering... how do other women deal with this urine issue.
Dear Flagirl,
It seems that most incontinence is very treatable, from exercises that strengthen the pelvic muscles that support the bladder, to surgery. It looks like you already know what Kegel exercises are but speak to your health care provider about other pelvic strengthening exercises, done with weights. Also, cut back on caffeine, and don't drink loads of water at a time--smaller amounts all day are better. If your incontinence hsappens when you laugh or cough, tighen your pelvic muscles when you know a laugh or cough is coming on. There are some medications to help but it depends on the type of incontinence you have. This is a VERY common problem--as much as 50% of us mid-life girls (and a bit after mid-life too) have it. Keep those mini-pads handy and do the exercises--they work.
