Saturday, March 07, 2009 Linda asks

Q: Can't function without Nap during the day.

3/2006 had a complete abdonimal Hysterectomy...

9/2006 had a work injury that triggered menopause...Since, dealt with the injury and major league menopause symptons that the gynegologist nor internal medicine doctor did not identify.  Since 9/2006 to 2/2009 I was suffering.  I just recently realized that I have been going thru menopause.  All the doctor visits, and the doctors did not know what the hell was going on with me.  I haven't been able to work to help support my family.  Now, I think I am near the end of the menopause; I sleep well at night but require a nap during the day.  I have been exercising and watching my diet.

I attempted many times to get away from the nap but I just can't function..

Have any advise for me.

Hi Linda,

Fatigue is a common symptom for menopausal women.  Even when you sleep through the night, often you are not getting deep, restorative sleep.  This is caused by the lack of progesterone which is important to the quality of our sleep.  You don't mention if you are on hormones.  If you are not on micronized progesterone, I would recommend you talk with your provider about starting.  Please see my earlier posting on Sleep.  It may give you some ideas about how to improve your sleep situation.

Good luck, Sandy
