Soy Does Not Fight Fat After Menopause, Study Finds

According to a new study, the estrogen-like compounds called isoflavones found in soy do not help limit the accumulation of body fat in women who have gone through menopause. Previous studies in labs and animals had found some evidence that soy might build muscle and trim fat. But in a new study of postmenopausal women, scientists found that isoflavones had no effect on the women's bodies, nor did they affect levels of leptin, insulin, or other hormones that affect appetite.
