Stopping Hormone Therapy May Be Worse Than Not Starting It: Study

Researchers say if women are considering starting hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to ease hot flashes and other symptoms of menopause, they should be aware that they could suffer even more problems if they ever stop the treatments. Results from the study suggest that many women who started HRT developed more troublesome symptoms--including breast tenderness and joint pain--after stopping the therapy than they had before they began the treatments. The women on HRT also had a higher incidence of breast cancer, heart attacks, and other cardiovascular events related to clogged arteries.  Read full story >
