Male Menopause Not a Myth

European researchers say male menopause does exist, though the condition is very rare, affecting only approximately two percent of middle-aged men. Their study, published in a new issue of New England Journal of Medicine, found that symptoms of male menopause such as depression, fatigue, and inability to perform sexual activity were linked to a drop in testosterone levels in some men in this age group. The condition, also called late-onset hypogonadism, was found to be linked to obesity and poor overall health. Researchers say testosterone therapy could treat male menopause, but that doctors should be very cautious about prescribing it.   Read full story >
