so i went yesterday for my nerve blocks. wasn't bad, even though i had a migraine that morning, my migraine doctor had me go go to my regular doctor to get a shot before i went..... he wanted me comfortable before we started.
it took less than 30 minutes. quick little stick and a burn, and aside from being really sore today ( i'm supposed to rest and take my muscle relaxers today) i'm good. had a small headache, but meds have taken care of that.
will see how the next few weeeks goes. i go on vacation for my sons graduation next week, and am praying that i don't ge3t a migraine 6 hours from home ( even though my doctor has given me paperwork to take with me as to what to do and what meds i take, to take with me)

good luck w the nerve blocks...i hope they work for you...they didnt for me, but i wasnt given muscle relaxants with them...were your shots lydocaine and cortesone and do you take the musle relaxants daily or just day after shots? hope you enjoy your sons graduation pain-free

not sure what mine were, but they weren't lidacaine ( i'm allergic) think it was marcaine ( not sure of the spelling)
i take flexeril daily, along with ambien so i can sleep. along whit a host of other drugs.
i'm now 3 weeks out from the nerve blocks, and i'd say i've had a small reducton, but not enough to get excited about!
Dear Chick,
Really sorry to hear that you haven't had more significant relief from the shots, but don't give up. Try them a few more times. Even though they didn't work for me I do know of someone they did work for. Good Luck. Be strong. I know how hard it is. I've been getting migraines every day for about a month recently, so I know the desparation. I'm no holy roller, but let's all pray for each other.
Take care,
Linda G
has anyone used and had significant relief with these so-called migraine zapper hand held machines?
Linda G
Linda,
As an FYI, that treatment is called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
It would be difficult to find much patient feedback at this point becuase the device is still awaiting FDA approval. Only those who have participated in the clinical trials have been able to thy TMS. I've seen the unit, but wasn't allowed to try it because it's not yet approved.
Teri
Teri,
do you know anything about vitamin therapy, by that I mean specific doses of the B vitamins administered under a doctors care? have you heard anything positive?
Linda G
Linda,
The only B vitamin that I know of any evidence on for Migraine prevention is B2. The dosage I usually see recommended is 400mg/day. It helps me a bit and is part of my regimen.
Of course, this should be discussed with your doctor too. :-)
Teri
Chick,
just wanted to let you know I was just reading comments to your shared blog and realized that I said I was getting the migraines everyday recently. I dont know if I shared that I've had them for 15 yrs !
