well i just spent a few hours with the doctor who i believe is the devils twin brother.
i know that there are times that my mirgaines are frequent, but when it puts me on my knees, and my meds won't stay down it's time for help.
last time i saw him, he accused me of being addicted to my meds..... yeah ok, which is WHY i try NOT to take them...... he also has stated that my problem comes from marital problems ( yeah i have that in writing)
well tonight he refuses to give me a shot.... ok no problem, just stop the pain, i don't care HOW you do it.
he writes on my discharge papers that it is a rebound headache ( rebound fomr what, i've had cephadyn in 2 weeks, and 2 advil.) and that i am having withdrawl from nubain shots ( that it's been weeks since i had)
my neuro, PCP, and migraine doc are all PO'd about his last comments.... i can hardly wait for the fallout from this one.
yep, think it's time to call the administrator, as this dude has NO freaking clue about migraines.
oh, and his solution for tonight..... 2 percociets ( which i am allergic to) and phenegrin. finally decided on vicadin, as i told him under no circumstances would i take the percociet, as i've grown fond of breathing.
oh the joy, and for the record my head STILL freaking hurts.

I hate the ER. To me it's the ninth ecehlon of hell, so meeting the devil's brother posing as a doctor sounds about right.
I'm sorry your still in pain, but I have a two ideas for you. 1) Since you have three doctors who are all appalled at this particular physician, see if any/all would be willing to put that in writing, and YES file a complaint with the hospital. This ER doc obviously needs to go back to Neurology 101. (If your migraines are caused by marital trouble, then I should be pain free because I'm not married! LOL) Having letters from your treating physicians about this guy will only help your case.
Second, since you have a migraine doctor, have him write out an Emergency Room protocol for you. There is a form here on MMC he can fill out. Basically, it says "my patient is a migraineur, not a drug seeker. These are the meds and dosages you are to administer when my patient is in your care" Then the doc can put down exactly what meds/doses and type of administration you should get. If any of your physician's have admitting privledges at the hospital you go to, I'd get them to write it, or at least add thier stamp and signature.
I hope that helps!
i have the emergency protocal.... it's in my wallet... the ER doc refuses to go by it.
the only good thing about this is my PCP IS the chief of staff at the hospital, and i have told him i want a meeting with him, devils twin, my migraine DR, and myself. migraine doc thinks it's a great idea..... so does the PCP. the evil doc, not so much.
hmmm guess he won't think it's so fun to pick on someone in pain when he's the one in the hot seat.
I hope you get your meeting. Of course evil doc doesn't want to go! He's going to get told off by you, your specialist, and the Cheif of Staff!
You really ought to file a formal complaint with your state licensing board. Substandard care when a doc has to "wing it" is one thing. But for him to disregard a written protocol on your treatment is at best medically neglegent, might be something worse.
my migraine doc and neuro have already done this. i didn't have to do anything but provide copies of paperwork.
