I found out years ago, by way of my sons, that hot dogs are loaded with sodium nitrates.  This is a very very bad thing to put in to our bodies.  It can cause headaches, mood swing and terrible twos in a child at any age.  The behavior changes are almost immediate too.  I'd recommend getting them out of the house completely... and best of luck.

ps, you may want to try high proteins in the morning... eggs, tuna, etc.  Also, start with a bottle of water, before you even get out of bed!  Hydration is excellent to ward off these buggers, before they start.

Yes - those wonderfully delicious, awful things. I LOVE hot dogs. But they have nitrates, and some even have MSG> MSG is an instant trigger for me, nitrates a stackable trigger.(When had alone, usually won't cuase a migraine, but when combined with another trigger will.) I found that Nathan's hot dogs do not have nitrates or msg, so I eat them. My hubby doesn't like them very much, but oh well, we can eat different brands. They also sell nitrate fee hot dogs, bacon, etc at some butcher shops. They can be pricey, though. Oscer Meyer just came out with a "Natural" bacon. It is cured with cane sugar, and sea salt ( i think that is all). It is a little bland, but to me is better than not having bacon at all. I have so many food triggers, that I have a boring and limited diet. My biggest triggers are aspartame and MSG. MSG is the tricky one - it can be listed by lots of other names and it in so many things - frozen foods, food mixes, snacks, chips, ets.

Since there are so many things I can not eat, but my family enjoys, I still buy some of the things for them. It doesn't really bother me much anymore to do without most of them, I have gotten use to it.

The hardest thing is going out to eat, or to "pot-luck" gatherings. I always take something safe for me to eat. Some people have gotten offended that I would not try their dish, but unless I watch them make it, or they give me an list of every ingredient in it, I am not even going to taste it - not worth it!! You would think I could have lost some weight by now, but I haven't - ha ha!!

Sorry I am rambling, just trying to give you some good info. You should look up the msg thing, to double check some other foods you may be eating.

Good luck. You should join us on the forum, you will probably get more responses there.

yeah my mother in law knows what i can and can't have... so bless her heart she tries to help with dinner when  i work ungodly hours.

and for our recent family reunion, several folks called to find out what my triggers were ( makes me love my inlaws)
