i had though i would be able to work out my issues with my employer. but it looks like they are going to force me to file an eeoc complaint. i was written up today for missing time due to migraines ( even though it's supposed to be covered under FMLA) i tried to explai to my manager what was going on...

Sorry to hear you've been put in such a terrible situation. I know it feels like enough to cope with just having migraines, and just working, let alone coping with these kinds of issues, let alone finding a lawyer - but you'll probably feel better when you have someone on your side fighting for you.

It does sound like filing a complaint with the EEOC, and getting legal representation, is the way to go right now!

    Good luck to you.

yeah i know that... when i left the message with our human resources manager, i told her that i really didn't want to have to go the route i was going to go, but if they wouldn't protect me, and i was going to get fired anyhow, i would sure go down fighting. as of 7 pm ( i  left the message for her at 8 am) i still haven't heard from her.

so i will do what i must. and maybe the next person won't have as hard of a time with them.

I've come to realize that working and migraines is nothing more than frustration and making one feel like they give up too soon, not able to work through your job with a 'headache'....and the list of put downs go on and on....now on the other hand for those who can or do work through with a migraine, my hats off to you...

All I can tell you, is don't give up. I know, it sucks but really are we going to let others tell us how much pain we feel or not? Are we going to let them belittle our life with migraines?

I say get yourself informed on your rights and just go for it. Educating yourself on your rights gives you the strength and the power to keep working for as long as your able...don't give up.

    Good luck,

    D

This animation shows one of the key causes of pain during a migraine--changes to the blood flow within the brain.
