I hate this!

By countrygirl72 Wednesday, July 09, 2008

I have had migraines for as long as I can remember. In the last about 6 years I have had a headache for everyday and then I get migraines on top of the headaches that can last anywhere from 3days to a week. I have been on alot of the meds they have out (inderill, elivill, topamax, maxalt, imitrex pills and injections, midrin, rellpex, and many more).  At one time they said I had "LOW PREASURE HEADACHES" and did a blood patch 2 different times. The first one lasted 1 week, the second one lasted less than 24 hours. I have no clue what to try next. My curent PCP I just transfered to because my other PCP did not know what to do. The PCP I have now is just about the same. Where is a good place to start?

Since you are having so many Migraine attacks a during the week, the best approach may be to see a Migraine specialist. These doctors are experts who treat people with Migraine disease and headache disorders. Rather than a neurologist, who treats so many different conditions like stroke, epilepsy and MS, a Migraine specialist devotes his practice to one thing - Migraine and headache. We have a new article that discusses Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special about them? And a patient recommended doctor list you can see HERE.

That would be the first place I would start!!

Thank you so much for that information. I did not know there where any doctors that specialized in migraines and headaches alone. I will be asking my PCP for a referal to a headache specialist and I will look for one on my own to. Thank you so much!
