I have been living with migraines for about 6 years now and since i have had a hystorectomy they are getting worse. I have tried just about everything and am currently on Zomig and Topamax. They arent helping. I would be interested in what others have to say.

    Jerrilee,

    Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection!

It often seems as if we've tried everything, but there are so many options for prevention these days that it's impossible to have tried everything. For more information, see Migraine Preventives - Too Many Options To Give Up. As for the Zomig, there are seven drugs in that family now, each of them working a bit differently. Check with your doctor about samples of some of the others.

hi. i certainly understand where you are coming from. i have had migraines since about age 9, i am now 32. my headaches became much much worse following my hysterectomy 2 years ago ( not sure why, as mine was a partial).

just wanted to let you know that you aren't alone. i just got home from getting a shot for mine ( more for the vomiting than the pain.... i can handle the pain most of the time).

just keep trying to find something that works.

Hi!  I have had daily headache/migraine since June 2007.  I have been through a battery of diagnostic tests; CT scans, MRI's, Lumbar Puncture. The result is there is no physical reason for the pain in my head.  I was given Topamax last summer, 25mg/day to begin and then upped to 100mg/day. The only thing it relieved me of was my ability to spell, critically think & walk unassisted. I also had numbness and tingling in my face, lips and fingers and the worst acid reflux I have ever had!  I am seriously thinking of pursuing hysterectomy to eliminate the hormonal aspect of this.  I will mourn the date of the first year my headache started next month. Please accept my sympathy for your suffering for 6 years.

i thank you for your support and smpathies for all that i have been through and send mine to you as well. as for you going through a hystorectomy be sure that you are prepared for the emotional aspect as well as the physical aspect of that procedure. i have had a partial hystorectomy and they left one of my overies and just today i was released from the hospital with a cyst on my remaining overy of 4 inches. my migraines since the partial hystorectomy have been worse as well so look into everything before you proceed. And i will you well.
