The Migraine

The migraine ending, EVERMORE

This is one of my early favorites (I've been reviewing them regularly as they come in). I've always had a weakness for turning old poems into something different and Edgar's life seemed to reflect someone with migraines. I bet he likes this one.

During his life, Poe complained of prolonged headaches, blurred vision, spasms, hypersensitivity to stimuli, and extreme fatigue. He also had a facial asymmetry, where one side of his face appeared dragged down, suggestive of chemical sensitivity, Donnay said. From PersonalMD.com

Wow, I had no idea Poe (probably) suffered migraines.  Of course those symptoms could all have been caused by his opium addiction too.

An interesting coincidence...

From the small research I did last night it seems that his supposed opium addiction is at least questionable.  No question about the alcoholism though.

Dear Katinthecorner,

According to the latest "Praeter-Hollish Poem Judging and Migraine Rating Scale" (of which I am the sole owner and judge)...  You were my 3rd favorite poem this year.  Whether you place or not know that your "Raven Redo" was very good and well thought out as far as I'm concerned.  Thought you might like to know you impressed someone out here.
