June 6 through June 12 has been designated as National Headache Awareness Month (NHAW) 2010. Originated and coordinated by the National Headache Foundation (NHF), NHAW is an annual event meant to increase public, patient, and physician awareness and knowledge of headache disorders.
Don't be confused by the name. Migraine is definitely included in this observation and the work of the NHF. It can be a bit confusing, but this area of medicine has long been called "headache medicine," and there are times when Migraine is included in the term "headache."
This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the National Headache Foundation, so NHAW carries extra meaning.

You can find even more information in our Headache Awareness Week Special.
There's no question that we all need to work to educate ourselves and others and build awareness about Migraine disease and other headache disorders. NHAW is a great opportunity to do both.
Congratulations to the National Headache Foundation
on their 40th anniversary!
