Hello!

Have you ever tried FEVERFEW for a preventive for migraines?  If so, what type of interaction with current medications does it have and what are the side effects?  After 40 years (and they are getting worse), feverfew is something I've never tried.

HELP,

Hi, Barbara,

I've never used feverfew personally. I can tell you that it's being recommended by doctors less frequently than it once was because it's been found that when it's discontinued, Migraines can be worse than before. It seems to have a kind of rebound effect.

Feverfew should not be taken by a woman who is or could become pregnant because it can cause miscarriage. It should also be avoided by anyone who has a problem with bleeding or clotting because it has a blood thinning effect.

As with any herb, it should be regarded as cautiously as we would a prescription medication, and our doctors should be consulted before we try it.
