Midrin is a compound of acetaminophen, isometheptene and dichloralphenazone prescribed as an abortive for mild to moderate Migraines and for tension-type headaches.
There have been a plethera of questions lately about whether Midrin is still available. Pharmacies all over the country have been telling patients that neither Midrin nor any of the generics are being manufactured.
This morning, I have finally gotten to the bottom of the question! I just spoke with a very helpful woman at Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories, the manufacturers of Midrin. Here's the scoop...
Midrin IS indeed still being manufactured, and shipments are going out of the Caraco factory weekly. The problem is that all of the generics have been discontinued, so the brand name is the only product left on the market. Thus, Caraco is having a bit of a problem keeping up with the demand.
