#LiveBold with Migraine and Enter Our Anti-Stigma Photo Contest

Teri Robert @trobert Health Guide
  • Migraine disease is, as you probably already know, horrendously difficult to live with. To top it all off the stigma associated with migraine make it even more difficult and increases the burden of living with the disease.

Remedy Health Media and HealthCentral are conducting an Anti-Stigma Photo Contest. To enter, you submit a photograph along with your story in 250 words or less. Here's my entry:

I've lived with migraine disease for over 50 years, fighting both the disease and the stigma. It’s my privilege to work with other patients who have migraine and other headache disorders – helping them cope with the disease and fight the stigma. In November, 2013, we held the first annual conference for the American Headache and Migraine Association (AHMA), which is a young patient-focused, patient-driving organization for patients with migraine and other headache disorders as well as their families and friends. I consider this a major victory for all of us – a victory over our diseases and disorders and over the stigma that so often causes even those closest to us to not understand and even be critical and hurtful.
