There's good news today for sufferers of fibromyalgia. Since fibromyalgia and Migraine disease are often comorbid conditions, this is good news for many Migraineurs as well. (Comorbid means that a person has two or more conditions at the same time, but none cause the other.)

Cymbalta (duloxetine HCl) has received FDA approval for treating fibromyalgia. Cymbalta is a serotonin- and norepinephrine-reuptake inhibitor antidepressant (SNRI) manufactured by Eli Lilly.

You may remember that Lyrica was approved for the treatment of fibromyalgia in June. Lyrica and now Cymbalta are the only medications with FDA approval for fibromyalgia treatment. Others are prescribed off-label.

Cymbalta is sometimes prescribed off-label for Migraine prevention. If you have both fibromyalgia and Migraines and are searching for effective treatments for both, it could be worth discussing Cymbalta with your doctor. Wouldn't it be nice to have one medication help with both conditions?

To learn more about Cymbalta's FDA approval for fibromyalgia, please visit our ChronicPainConnection and read Karen Lee Richards's SharePost, Cymbalta Approved for Fibromyalgia.
