Yes, Midrin Is Still Being Made for Migraine and Tension-Type Headache!

By Teri Robert, Health Guide Sunday, August 17, 2008

For over a year now, people have been asking, "What happened to Midrin?"

Last summer, Midrin was very hard to come by. There had been several acetaminophen, isometheptene and dichloralphenazone  compounds being made, but most of them were discontinued. The manufacturers of those medications declined to say why.

After searching the FDA's list of discontinued medications, I searched until I found the manufacturer, Caraco Pharmaceutical Laboratories. I phoned and asked then if Midrin had been discontinues. No, it has not been discontinued. It is still being manufactured and shipped. We also learned that Excellium Pharmaceuticals is still making their brand of this medication, Epidrine.

Some of our readers are still having trouble getting Midrin. Their pharmacists are telling them that it's discontinued. If you run into this, ask your pharmacist to check again. Ask them to check on Epidrine too, and give them the names of the manufacturers. If they still say it's discontinued, check with other pharmacies.

The bottom line? Both Midrin and Epidrine are still available.
