Love Your Heart As You Care for Your Migraines
Wonder what this has to do with Migraines? Plenty! Over the last few years, we've learned a great deal about the connection between Migraine disease and heart disease. Research has shown there to be:
- increased risk of cardiovascular disease in women over 45 with Migraine with aura. (see Migraine with Aura Linked To Cardiovascular Disease in Women for more information.)
- an association between Migraine and risk of major cardiovascuar disease in men. (see Migraine Disease Linked to Cardiovascular Disease in Men for more information.)
- greater risk of stroke among individuals with Migraine, particularly Migraine with Aura. (see Migraine and Stroke Risk for more information.)
While none of this information is reason to panic, it is reason to work with our doctors to reduce any modifiable risks we have. It's all reason to make wise choices. Here's an announcement from the American Heart Association about choices:
February is American Heart Month. Check out the HealthCentral Network's American Heart Month special report for more great information!
