Some of you may remember that I've written before about the need for increased NIH funding of research into Migraine disease and other headache disorders. From this need, an event and an organization have been formed.

Headache on the Hill first occurred in September of 2007 when a group of doctors, researchers, and advocates visited Capitol Hill to talk with our senators and members of the house about our needs.

The Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy (AHDA) was formed to focus on advocacy efforts to help us, and there are times when the AHDA asks us, our friends, our family, and others who support us to write to their Senators and members of the House. When this comes up, the AHDA provides a prewritten letter that we can add personal details to, then automatically send to our members of Congress.

A second Headache on the Hill is coming up. As it approaches, the AHDA may need us to participate in sending letters to our Senators and members of the House. When that happens, the AHDA emails an "Action Alert" to everyone on the ADHA mailing list. The Action Alerts let you know what's going on, and provide a link directly to a form to send your letters. You don't have to know or look up your representavies. That's all done for you automatically. When you receive an Action Alert, sending email letters to your Senators and member of the house can be done literaly in 10 minutes or less.

We know that the emails prompted by AHDA action alerts last spring had clear, positive consequences. They led to led to the adoption of the House and Senate report language that the NIH is currently responding to.

So, will you do something for me, for yourself, and everyone trying to deal with Migraines and headaches? Will you please join the AHDA mailing list so we can let you know when we need your help sending email letters to Congress? I hope you'll join us and ask you friends and family members to join us too.

Together, we CAN make a difference! To join the AHDA mailing list, just CLICK HERE.
