Migraine Research Funding: Friday Is Last Day To Email Congress
There's no question that we need better Migraine and headache treatments. There's also no question that, for that to happen, the NIH needs to allocate more research funding to headache disorders research.
I don't need to tell you the impact of Migraine and other headache disorders. You live with them. Are you tired of hand-me-down preventive treatments that were developed for other conditions? ... of all but one abortive medication having strong warnings for anyone with any history of stroke or heart issues? ... of not having to be diagnosed by ruling out other issues because we don't have any diagnostic tests?
If you are tired of all of this, and most of you say you are, please give me FIVE MINUTES. The members of the Alliance for Headache Disorders Advocacy are requesting that the US House and the Senate each include language that prioritizes research on headache disorders with the fiscal year 2010 appropriations bills for the NIH. At this particular time, we need our members of the House to sign a "Dear Colleague" letter that they received a few weeks ago. Tomorrow is the last day for them to sign this letter.
On March 3, I wrote, asking all of you to please follow a link and send an email to your member of the House. Seriously, it can be done in five minutes. At this point, only a fraction of you have emailed your member of the House. Please, take this last chance to send that email.
