I'm not surprised by these results.  Triptans have not worked well for me, but I seem to get the best results when I combine imitrex injections with ibuprofen  and fioricet.  In fact, week before last I actually managed to break a headache cycle with this combination for several days, which was a first!

I'm also not surprised by these results.  I have much better results when I take Celebrex or Relefin (both are an NSAID) in combination with Relpax or Maxalt (both are a triptan).

My specialist recommended that I take Aleve with my triptan.  He said that some companies were packaging Aleve with the triptans so you got it when you picked up your script...Or they were going to start doing so.

If you can take triptans, the Aleve definitely helps more than the triptan alone.  I was told by my specialist that while the triptan acted to halt the attack, the naproxen worked to kill the inflammation that may just keep triggering the attack and causing it to last longer, so it kind of bolsters the triptan.

Of course if you have asthma as well, you have to be cautious with the NSAIDs.
