Migraines and Health Care Reform - ACT NOW!

Good morning, everyone! I've been hearing from many of you that you share you share my concerns and even fears about health care reform. Recently, I've been working with the National Patient Advocate Foundation (NPAF), and the NPAF has been working hard to stay on top of what's going on with ...

Hi Teri!

Thank you for making it very easy for us to send this alert.  I just used your "links" and as you said, it only took a few minutes to send the letters.  Hope you are having a pain-free day/week/month!

Hugs,

Clemmie

I participated and this is what I added to the letter to my senators:

"The more I read and consider all this, the more urgent the situation becomes. People are dying and going bankrupt! To take 10-12 years to implement reform is utterly ridiculous, while in the meantime giving billions to insurance companies in subsidies!?!

We need help NOW -- single payer, universal, Medicare for all-type coverage is what we need. Short of that we need a strong public option (or allow all of us over the age of 55 to buy into Medicare immediately) that people can buy into NOW, not two, five, or 10 years from now. There is no reason for all this delay, or to allow insurance companies to take so long to act, especially if we are forced to purchase private health insurance. This is not reform; this is insanity!"

Note: We made it to the moon in 10 years!

Thanks for making this available Teri, and Betsy I love what you added. To think that people could go on dying for want of coverage and goign bankrupt for want of coverage for another 13 years is shocking - it's not acceptable!

... The reason they are not implementing the so called government insurance plan is because it falls after the 2012 election.  Both house and senate plans will be such a disaster to our country and all true Americans.  Please people, understand what you are signing to send to your senators and what you will be giving up.  The comments that are stated are talking points in favor of government Health care.  If you think having your doctors listening to your complaints with your migraines is a problem now...let the government start making decisions for you.  If you think it is hard to get any kind of pain meds without the doctors thinking your faking your migraines.  Let the government control your migraines...

First, if you follow the link, the letter that is there IS EDITABLE. You can write anything you want to your Senators. You can write them a letter that reflects your opinion as stated here.

Second, please do not post personal attacks. If you don't like what I write, you are welcome to say so, but not to levy personal attacks. That is against our terms of service. We are polite and kind to each other here.

Thank you,

Teri

10 minutes 'cause I re-wrote part of the letter and added some info pertinent to my particular state.

Thanks for the heads up, Teri.

I went to the NPAF link that sends an email.  This is not a secure site and asks for too much psnl info for an unsecured web disclosure.  I do agree with the message.

Chuck,

Sorry you feel that way. The only required information is name, address, and email address. That information must accompany any email sent to a Senatorial office for it to be considered valid communication by the Senator's constituents.

Hi Terry:

I don't want to deter anyone from emailing via the link you provided.  Just want to have people secure and comfortable with all that information that the site link requests prior to the sending of the message.  The site is secure if an "s" is part of the htt... and having a lock symbol in the bottom tray.  I do support the emphasis of the text to the Senators office.   Thanks, Chuck
