I've followed instructions. I've been a good girl. I've stayed on the program of IV treatment of refractory migraines for six weeks now. I've lost my job and my medical insurance. The treatment requires I ...

Sunday, June 22, 2008 at 11:28 AMI can relate! I have been getting migraines 4-6 days a week for 33 years. I have tried just about everything including pointless surgeries. Sumatriptans such as Imitrex, Relpax, Zomig are lifesavers but I would get more migraines than I could safely take medicine for. Recently, however, my migraine life seems to have dramatically improved. I have always had low-thyroid issues and I have been on medication for years to regulate it so I didnt think that could be related to my headaches. However, after reading a book by Kenneth Blanchard, MD, PhD called “What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Hypothyroidism…” and beginning his protocol my headache life has improved dramatically! Dr Blanchard does things differently than most endocrinologists in that he does not believe that the ranges for "normal" thyroid levels are always accurate and his prorocol more accurately matches our own bodies thyroid ratios. You may have been getting "normal" thyroid test results for years but you may still need thyroid regulation. The only other thing that has changed recently that could possibly contribute to my migraine improvement is that also at the suggestion of Dr Blanchard, I have begun taking Vitamin D which it turns out I was deficient in and which is in actuality a hormone and not a vitamin and so it can affect thyroid function among other things. I would urge anyone who suffers from migraines to READ THIS BOOK! Good luck to all of us and hang in there!

Sorry you're still going through so much. I've never heard of IV therapy being done like this. I kmow you've read our article about IV therapy. Dr. Krusz has his patients plan to stay in Dallas for several days. If the first IV therapy session doesn't do the job, they try something else the next day and keep at it.
The only suggestion I know to make at this point is another doctor.
Sorry. Wish I knew more to suggest.
