Trying to figure out what is going on! Frustration with the Dr!

Well here we are again. As migraine sufferurs we are all to familiar with dealing with cronic pain. We are all to use to being steriotyped as "pill-poppers" and all to use to hearing the most dreaded phrase from the doctor " I dont know"

I have been having migraines from tha age of 8. Pain is nothing new to me. The last few weeks I have had unbeilievable pain in my belly. I thought it was PMS and ignored it. The pain has gotten so bad it wakes me up at night. I completly missed my period this month.

I finally decided to go into the doctor, I had my regualr exam, let the Doc know what was going on and how severe the pain is. I also let him know my migraines are getting worse with the pain.

I got the dreaded answer " I dont know" we start from step one and work our way thru to find what might be wrong. In the mean time, I take yet another pain pill. I need another pain pill like I need a hole in my head!

How frustrating!

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!

When we take certain OTC and prescription more than two to three days a week, we run the risk of getting Medication Overuse Headache, (MOH) formerly called rebound headache. Any Migraine prevention drug we take while in MOH will not work, period. Medication Overuse Headache - When the Remedy Backfires has more information.

Don't lose hope, because there are over 100 medications used for Migraine prevention. With all the different combinations the numbers go up dramatically. Our article Migraine Preventive Medications - Too Many Options To Give Up!
