Did you try Sumatriptan?

Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at 11:51 AMHi, I have the same problem and, although I have no allergies, my pain became worst due to the abuse of painkillers (you know, you have a pain and take a painkiller, but when the pain occurs every single day and you must take something to go to work, it finally becomes a chronic pain)
The neurologist recommended me to take sumatriptan (there are many types of this medicine and it depends on your bodily resistance to each type that you need one or another because they might have little side effects)
Also, a preventive threatment would help. I'm takin Depakine (spanish name), something similar to Topamax, which I could not take due that I had a little stone in my kidney (I dont know the english for this ;)
Ask your doctor about this. Also consider that, at least here in Spain, it's a bit expensive if you buy it without a doctor prescription (the one I use is 4Eur each dose -about 3USD- with a prescription, and about three times more without it)

Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 10:21 AMThanks for the feedback. I cannot take any sot of triptans because of how my body reacts to it. I have tried almost everything except Depakote. I am just sick of dealing with this. Its only been 8 years but it seems like *forever*. Headaches every day is just so frustrating and at what point can i throw in the towel?

Changes in the weather and flying can trigger a Migraine attack for many people. There are Migraineurs who take medication before a weather front moves in hopes of avoiding a Migraine. Of course you would need to speak to your doctor about this, but it may be worthwhile. We have an Ask the Clinician question you can see for more information HERE.
