I work 3x a week as a nurse 7p-8a. My headaches always get better from 1-4pm, I have *no idea* why. If you have to call out sick you have to call out by 430-5pm. I went to call out and it was too late, so i went to work looking like death, feeling like death. It was so bad my managers felt bad they told me to come in, and blocked the unit from receiving more patients and sent me to the emergency room. Ours was PACKED, so I wetn to the neighboring hospital, n they took me within 10 minutes.

At home i take Topamax, Reglan, Fioricet(w/benadryl bc it makes me itch). I went in, they started me on normal saline, I got 3 bags (1000ml each) total. I also started with benadryl 50mg iv, and  4mg morphine IV, which almost induced anaphylaxis so i had a whole bunch of people at my bed with a cart about to push epinephrine which would have made my headache worse obviously, but my throat didnt close, i just had throat spasms for about 30-45 minutes which was a pain in the neck! after that my pain was almost the same, the coughing was horrendous, so they then gave me zofran (bc i previously had reglan at home) iv for nausea, and dilaudid 2mg iv. i felt a lot better with this, but i still had pain.  2 hours later i got another 2mg dilaudid. i for once, felt relief. i also broke out into a rash, and itched all over, but i didnt have pain.

Does anyone else have allergies with narcotics? I seem to have sensitivities/allergies to pain killers--vicodin, percocet, dilaudid, morphine---and im afraid of the future? i.e. surgery, child birth, etc.Undecided
