June Is National Migraine Awareness Month!Activities & Info to Help Make Migraines Visible - Check Them Out!

That was not a typical migraine.

By Mariepi Thursday, August 19, 2010

Last weekend I had flashes of light ( bolts of light) and floaters ( huge gray smoky ones) in my vision,it was strange for a migraine, I had ophtalmique happenings before but that was not exactly the same. I waited an other day and decided to go to ER to calm hubby. it turned out I had serious retinal tear and bleeding in the vitreous body. I went just in time the tear is serious. Had laser treatment and will have an other one tomorrow . If I were just by myself I would had done nothing thinking it was a migraine.

Hope that helps someone.

So sorry I am getting to you so late. And a BIG thank you for sharing your story with us. It is always a good idea to check with the doctor when symptoms are so different from our "normal" Migraine symptoms.

You did yourself and "hubby" a  very good thing. How are you feeling now?

Thank you for your reply. I had an other tx but I still see bolts of lights at night in the far corner of my eye when I move my head. The nurse at the dr,'s office told me to wait a few weeks and if it does not get better to call to see the dr.

I had headaches on a regular basis since but the weather is not stable either.

Marie,

Obviously, you have to do what you think is right, but if I were in your place, I'd be getting an appointment with the doctor now. Maybe I'm overreacting, but if YOU are uncomfortable waiting, don't hesitate to call the doctor's office and tell the nurse you want to be seen now.

Please keep us posted?

I had an other apt with the ophtalmo,in dec I will have to go on a regular basis to be checked, I told him about the residual bolt of light and few new pinpoint dark spots, he says that I have the same problem in both eyes being retinal pull of the vitreous humor, that happens as we age.......well Wecome to the Golden Years !!! I was talking with a pt in the waiting room and he said that the only gold he saw was his pee ! Sorry hope it won't hurt younger ple.
