I have been almost unbelievably fortunate in my migraine experience.
To have a primary doctor who doesn't blame every symptom on stress, who knew I had migraines even though mine are bilateral, and who warned me about medication overuse headaches when I took ibuprofen for another reason.
To have a neurologist who educates her patients thoroughly, who treats patients with respect, and who is not threatened by a well-informed patient.
To have numerous co-workers who have experienced migraine pain, and who truly understand it.
To have had the first triptan I tried actually work for me, with tolerable side effects, and to have it still work for me nearly all the time.
To have had a meaningful reduction in my migraine frequency with the third preventive I tried, and to have experienced further reductions after adding some supplements to my regimen.
To have avoided medication overuse headaches.
To have found this web site and its forum.
That is not to say that it has always been easy, because it hasn't. It's not to say that I've never felt like giving up, because I have. But when I consider how far I've come in a relatively short time, and how much harder it could have been, I know how fortunate I have been. I am truly blessed.
