I really think 2008 is going to be my best year yet since my Migraines became severe.
Not to be a brown-noser, but I really owe a great deal of my progress with this infernal disease to Teri Robert. When my Migraines started becoming more frequent and far more severe, I hit the web looking for some answers. Answers in language I could understand. My search led me to About.com's site, which was written by Teri Robert at the time. When her book was released, I wondered if there would be much in it that wasn't on her About.com site or her Help for Headaches site. To my delight, there was. Many of the topics were the same, but the book went into more detail. Plus, I could sit and read straight through it much more easily than reading individual online articles.
Last year, when Teri left About.com and came here, I followed and have continued to learn from her here.
I'm not sure whether what I learned about Migraine disease (including capitalizing the word "Migraine") or what I learned about leading my health care team and being my own advocate is more valuable to me. It's probably a tie.
Anway, between what's on Teri's web sites, what's in her book, and all the great information I've read on the forum, I learned what I needed to grab this disease by the throat, throw it in a cage, and keep it there! No longer am I plagued by three or four nasty Migraines a week. Usually, I have about one a month. A dose of Maxalt or Zomig shows those who's boss.
Now I can go to work, care for my family, attend social events, actually plan ahead with reasonable confidence that I'll be able to do things. Wow. I have a life again.
I want to thank Teri for all she's written, how she throws herself into things, all her advocacy work, and everything else she's done for me. I owe thanks to the forum moderators too. The forum on this site is the friendliest, most informative, most supportive, most spam-free, and most productive forum I've found anywhere. Thank you!
Yes, 2008 is going to be a great year for me. If you're still having a lot of problems, read all you can and keep working on it. Your life really can get better!

Abi

Abi - That's great that you've found so much relief! I just picked up Teri's book a month ago and I can't believe the changes in my life already. I actually had THREE headache-free days....in a row! The only reason I finally got one was because I had forgotten to take my preventative, which I try really hard not to do on the weekends, but it's really hard for me for some reason.
Keep up the good work!
