It had been exactly one year of chronic migraines and chronic daily headaches. I'll admit I was at the end of my rope, and I fell into a deep depression, a few months before my seventeenth birthday I almost ended everything, and I'm still self harming. But there is light to my story... About a month ago, after IV's, plenty different medication attempts and massage therapy I was sent to a pain managment clinic. I met with several different doctors, and got my first answer ever. I have TMJ (after being told I didn't have it by two doctors and my dentist) and displaced disks in my jaw. The nerves around my face are also stretched and are not sending the message to my brain to make epinephrine, which is what was causing the majority of my pain. They suggested I buy a tens machine (ETPS 1000) made by acumed. This has changed my headaches 100% for the better. Although I still have to fall back on Zomig, it's not nearly as common. I do have 2 questions (that I'm sure my doctor can answer, but it's nice to get suggestions from others who are going through the same thing.) My doctor is putting me on an anti-depressant, and I was wondering which ones are reputable, effective and safe to take with triptans? keeping in mind that I'm only 17. Also, I had to stop taking my brith control when my migraines started getting worse because they said B/C can increase migraines. Not that it's extremely important right now, but will I ever be able to take it without having to risk increased migraines?
Thanks for your help and support.

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!
First, let me say I'm so glad you are getting some relief, sweetie. How about a counselor? That may be very helpful now too, especially with the self-harming. Think about, ok?
There is actually a device, NTI Tension Suppression System you may be interested in checking out. It looks odd, but is FDA approved for Migraine pain and TMD which may interest you.

hello, i have read about NTI system but where can you get a prescription for one? should i asked my migraine specialist or does it have to come from a pain clinic?
thanks, cathie
Hi Cathie,
If you go to the NTI system home page (I think I gave you the link) on the top of that page is a tab for NTI Providers. Click on that and it will take you to another page where you plug in your state and zip code to find a provider.
Hope this helps,
Nancy
hello Nancy, i search for a provider near me, i live in the St. Louis, Mo region, there just isn't anyone around here, how disappointing, i wish i could just order it on line.
