    Ally,

I just wanted to say hi and to let you know that I will be praying for you and Michael.

This website is full of valuable information. Please join the forum where you can post specific questions and get answers.

There are over 100 medications for migraine prevention. There are programs for prescription assistance. There are headache specialists that hopefully can help your husband.

Stay positive and keep searching. You will find the answers. It has taken me three years to find the correct diagnosis and a wonderful doctor for my 10 yr old son. He is not cured but we are on the right path to making his migraines managable.

    Good luck.

    Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!

I'm sorry to hear your husband is suffering so. Being in constant pain is exhausting.

Medication Overuse Headache can be horribly painful. This type of headache happens when certain medications, like hydrocodone, Midrin or Ultram, are used more than two to three days a week. The only way to stop MOH, is to totally discontinue the offending medication. Stopping these medications should be discussed with your doctor so your husband can taper off these medications rather then stopping them abruptly. Does your husband see a neurologist or a family doctor? Either one should be able to help with this medical issue. Feel free to print out this information to give to the doctor if need be.

Preventive medications will not work if your husband is experiencing MOH. Once the cycle is over, there are lots of medications for Migraine prevention. It is also important to know the difference between  Preventives, Abortives and Rescues Medications. This information is invaluable for the Migrainuer.
