I've noticed through the years that not only is barometric pressure one of my triggers but wind is especially horrific for me.  The equinox, summer/winter also has me in a dither, a week or so prior/post I may be restless, energetic, short tempered, sleep quality affected.  Of course, I head for my room and hibernate.  I have also noticed during these episodes I will start rubbing my scalp (possibly decreased sensation, blood flow) invariably I draw blood.  Even in my sleep, my husband has taken my hand away from my scalp.  Sometimes it the sites vary, face, back, legs, has this happened to anyone else?  So, not only is my body altered, (weight loss of 10 lbs. or more) but features marred with my scratching.  I usually go into almost a hiding, since my sister started crying at the site of me during one of these episodes.  And well meaning friends try to "fatten me up", and not stare at the skeletal remains of my body after a migraine.  When I do emerge I try to look as good as I can, and when ask how I feel, give the chipper answer, "With my fingers", and change the subject.  Which can be difficult, since my thought processes seem to slow and I have a hard time tracking a conversation.  Sometimes, it is just too much effort and forturnately my husband understands and gives me support.

Which brings me to one other point:  My husband is my lifeline, caregiver, friend, you name it he's it.  Since he is so protective of me, one of my previous co-workers thought he was abusing/neglecting me!  Nothing could be further from the truth!  So, during a migraine episode I write a note and tack it on the fridge that I am NOT abused or neglected by him, for any emergency workers and visitors that may come into our home.  This protects him.  It seemed absurd that it came down to this, but I don't want him under suspicion or accused of hurting me.

Thank you all for letting me balance on the soap box for awhile, have  a great weekend and may you all be pain-free.
