Hi
I am new to forum. I have been newly diagnosed with PFO and Atrial Septal Aneuyrism post chest pains which may be related to relpax treatment? I have suffered migraines for last 4 years and have had no luck with relief I spend at least 40 + hours in headache and recovery a month. I am a professional working in medical field with patients and I cannot think to write notes when in migraine process. One of my doctor colleagues even commented on my facial changes during migraine. I tried some medications and Neurologists keep trying to give me more meds that only make me more confused and stupid and non functioning. I am also having trouble getting a Cardiologist to agree in closing the PFO even with my symptoms of vision loss, numbness in limbs along with the headaches.. to no avail. I don't know what to do about work I am about to see my career flushed down the drain. I get the feeling that the Doctors I see think I am nuts, overweight, and just "stressed" which makes real anxiety for me. Lots of info and questions here any help?

Hello, and welcome to MyMigraineConnection.com!
Before I forget, this isn't the forum. This is our SharePost/Blogging section. There are directions below for finding the forum.
Don't lose hope. There are so many options available for Migraine prevention and management these days that it's literally impossible to have tried them all. So you do still have options. Maybe it's time to move on to a true Migraine specialist. Neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine specialists.
Sorry, but it's highly unlikely that you'll find any doctor to perform a PFO closure for Migraine prevention. Neither the procedure nor the devices used in the procedure have been FDA approved for Migraine prevention. Although medications can be prescribed off-label, it's a different situation entirely when it comes to surgical procedures and medical devices. At this point, PFO closure for Migraine prevention has to be reviewed by the FDA for special approval, and insurance companies will not cover it. This week's MigraineCast podcast is about PFO and Migraine and the current research. You can listen to it at http://www.migrainecast.com/. You might want to talk to your doctor about checking out the clinical trials.
